Rain- Speech

THE FRISCO KID

Great movie, with two great stars, Gene Wilder and Harrison Ford.

The Frisco Kid. A Polish rabbi, played bye Wilder, wanders through the Old West on his way to lead a synagogue in San Francisco. On the way he is nearly burnt at the stake by Indians, robs a bank and is almost killed by outlaws and wrestles Harrison Ford in wet long underwear.

Chief Gray Cloud: [in reference to Avram’s god] What does he do?
Avram: He… He can do anything!
Chief Gray Cloud: Then why can’t he make rain?
Avram: Because he doesn’t make rain. He gives us strength when we’re suffering. He gives us compassion when all that we feel is hatred. He gives us courage when we’re searching around blindly like little mice in the darkness… but He does not make rain!
[Thunder and lightning begin, followed by a downpour]
Avram: Of course… sometimes, just like that, he’ll change His mind.

This movie is about faith, friendship and the Wild West. I highly suggest you watch it, a flop at the box office even though Ford had played Han Solo three years earlier and Wilder had just finished Silver Streak. Go figure a nice movie though.

The would both go on to play cowboys again, Gene Wilder in Stir Crazy the next year. Stir Crazy (2) Well sort of and
Harrison Ford would play a Cowboy in Cowboys vs. Aliens 32 years later.

Of course he was dancing with the wonderful Natalie Portman, so some might say she is worth a little revolution herself. Natalie-Portman
